Sensor-Guided Heat Performance · Calgary

Heat training built around you. Acclimation and Adaptation Protocols.

Measure your thermal strain in training, then use active or passive heat exposure to build a deliberate, sensor-guided plan for hot-race preparation or longer-term endurance adaptation.

See your heat response for free.

Not everyone needs a heat program. Start by seeing what actually happens during the training or racing you already do.

Free Heat Assessment

One real session. One useful snapshot.

$0 one assessment per athlete
  • Wear a Tempered thermal sensor during normal training or racing
  • In-person at Inside Out Total Wellness or mobile in the Calgary area
  • Short thermal report with brief interpretation
  • Clear next-step options if heat looks worth addressing
The free assessment is intentionally a snapshot. It does not include an individualized heat-training prescription, ongoing monitoring or repeated testing.
How heat training works

Active and passive are both tools.

The method depends on the athlete, goal, training load and the heat environments you can realistically use.

Active heat

Exercise while thermal strain rises.

Training in a hot environment, or using additional clothing where appropriate, can raise heat load while a sensor helps track the response.

Passive heat

Add heat without adding another workout.

Sauna, hot-water immersion or another suitable passive method can be placed around normal training when that better fits the athlete and goal.

Who it can help

When heat is worth paying attention to.

The common thread is not a specific sport. It is an athlete whose preparation or performance may benefit from understanding the thermal response.

Hot-race preparationBuild heat acclimation before race week rather than hoping the conditions cooperate.
Repeated overheatingUnderstand whether thermal strain is becoming a limiter during normal training or racing.
HYROX & hybrid athletesHard indoor work, high metabolic heat production and variable airflow can make heat management relevant.
Endurance developmentUse longer-term heat exposure strategically as an additional physiological training stimulus.

FAQ

Common heat-training questions.

The program should fit the athlete, not force every athlete into the same protocol.

What if I already own a CORE sensor?

Great. Bring your own compatible CORE device and save $50 on guided heat programs. You are paying for the prescription, monitoring and interpretation rather than renting another sensor.

Do I need to be preparing for a hot race?

No. A short Race Heat Block is primarily designed for event preparation, while the longer Heat Performance Build can use repeated heat exposure as a broader endurance-training stimulus.

How long does a race-focused block take?

Usually 2–3 weeks. The exact schedule depends on the athlete, target race, normal training and how quickly the thermal response changes.

Do I have to train actively in the heat?

No. Tempered can use active exercise, passive heat, or a combination. The method is selected around your goal, training load, access and tolerance.

Where are in-person sessions completed?

Active in-person sessions are available at Inside Out Total Wellness. Free assessments can also be completed mobile in the Calgary area during an appropriate training session.

Is heat training relevant for HYROX?

It can be for athletes who feel heat becomes a limiter. HYROX involves sustained hard work and substantial metabolic heat production, often indoors where airflow and venue conditions vary. The free assessment is an easy way to see whether heat is actually relevant for you.

Can I add sweat sodium testing?

Yes. Sweat sodium testing can be added from $99 when completed during an existing session, or $149 as a separate appointment. The Race Heat Block already includes a basic sweat-rate assessment for fluid-loss guidance.
