Tempered Sports

Our Manifesto.

Training advice is everywhere. Understanding which advice applies to you is harder.

At Tempered Sports, we believe in sound training principles, but not in one formula for every athlete. We draw on scientific research, coaching experience, and physiological data, questioning assumptions and considering how each individual responds to training.

A coach should be able to explain the reasoning behind a plan. A physiological test should help answer questions that matter to your performance. More information is only useful if it helps you make better decisions.

We want you to train effectively, achieve meaningful goals, and better understand your own performance along the way.

In practice

What this philosophy looks like.

The principles matter most when they change the way athletes are coached, tested and supported.

Coaching

Start with the athlete.

Goals, schedule, experience, response to training and real-life constraints come before the plan.

Physiology

Measure with a purpose.

Testing is valuable when the result answers a question and changes what the athlete does next.

Innovation

Keep what works.

New technology should strengthen sound training principles, not replace them or create unnecessary complexity.
